The primary mission of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) is to provide quality hearing and balance services through professional development, education, research, and increased public awareness of hearing and balance disorders.
And, now one of Osborne Audiology’s own has a seat at the table to help AAA achieve its mission. Bre Myers, AuD ‘06, PhD ‘17, CH-AP, associate didactic program director of the Osborne Audiology, Drexel University has been elected to serve as a member at large for a three-year term on the AAA board beginning in October 2025.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve my profession in this capacity,” said Dr. Myers. “The current board members are respected members of the profession and I am humbled to work alongside them.”
Before being elected a member at large, Dr. Myers had served on many board subcommittees to help support its mission. She said she is particularly interested in helping advance the organization’s federal legislation agenda, particularly H.R. 2757, the Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act of 2025.
AAA, working collectively with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA), supports this legislation that would give audiologists additional opportunities under Medicare by reclassification as “practitioners;” allow for direct access by Medicare patients to audiologists; and expand covered audiologic services beyond diagnosis to include treatment.
In addition to her current academic role, Dr. Myers has gained experience in a variety of clinical settings, including private practice, Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) facilities and at veterans’ hospitals.
“Each of these practice settings has its challenges and I think having first-hand experience in each allows me to find commonalities and bring our profession together,” she said.
